The section of the armed forces in most countries across the world which is directly bearing the burden of direct combat action is the infantry. High profile combat operations by many nations over the last decade in locations such as Afghanistan and Iraq have been infantry combat intensive and highly challenging. Ministries of Defence are concerned with harnessing their own research and development resources and the innovations that the market is offering in order to make their infantry best placed to deal with diametrically opposed operational environments.

This years Infantry Weapons Event will present an opportunity for leading personnel from a variety of militaries to gain important knowledge about how other infantries are being resourced and adapted to ensure optimum capability in a variety of hazardous operational environments, as well giving industry a platform to demonstrate their solutions directly to those responsible for ensuring the fighting capability of dismounted combat operations.
