Highlights
The Sixteenth International School on Quantum Electronics "Laser Physics and Applications" will take place in September 2010. This is a traditional event, organized biennially since 1978 by the Institute of Electronics - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with the purpose of providing a meeting place for researchers from Eastern and Central European countries and from all over the world. Leading scientists are invited to deliver lectures on "hot" topics in the fundamentals of laser physics and applications of lasers, grouped as follows:
1. Laser − matter interactions
2. Laser spectroscopy and metrology
3. Laser remote sensing and ecology
4. Lasers in biology and medicine
5. Laser systems and nonlinear optics
Poster sessions for the participants will also be organized on the above mentioned and related topics. Special attention is given to the young scientists. At the end of the school a certain number of selected posters will be acknowledged in a special session "Oral presentation of selected posters" giving the opportunity to the most pronounced young researchers to present their work in the presence of the entire audience. The eligible candidates must be aged under 35 and must personally present the poster for which they are a co-author. An international commission will assess these poster presentations observing the criteria listed on the AWARDS-page.
