2009 saw another successful Longwall event take place at the beautiful Hunter Valley Crown Plaza. The conference swung into action at the Greg Norman designed Vintage Golf Course, where delegates met in a social environment to drive, pitch, putt and occasionally hack their way to the pin. The BIS golf day has become a feature part of the event.

The conference presentations were again superb. The operation overviews gave great insight to the current projects in the Longwall industry, whilst the technical papers provided the audience with something they can take back and apply to their mine site. Chair person Bob Miller of Centennial Coal summed it up well in saying "the professionalism of the presenters showed passion for their subject".

All in all it was another great year and we would like to thank you for your attendance and encourage you to remain in contact through our newsletters on the progress of next year's conference. Next year's dates have been released and Longwall 2010 will again be held at the Hunter Valley Crowne Plaza on October 25 - 26
