Highlights
The ATW is a follow-up from the forum in October 2008 on “Naturally Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs: Characterisation, Modelling, Simulation and Development.” A survey conducted during the forum identified the topic of “Upscaling of Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs” as one of the highest priority issues in building reliable reservoir models. Carbonates display a high degree of heterogeneity on all scales (pore, inter-well to seismic) and are pervasively fractured. Upscaling of fractured carbonate reservoirs is, therefore, a major challenge requiring robust workflows, to optimize decision making at all stages of field development. Consequently, the steering committee has tailored this ATW to address this important issue.
