Project Evaluation Conference 2009
Apr 21,2009 - Apr 22,2009Grand Hyatt Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
-
Highlights
The AusIMM Project Evaluation conference in 2007 focused on the underlying factors that increase the chances of successfully “getting it right”. In 2009 the Project Evaluation conference will not only debate the obstacles to achieving benchmark levels of excellence but also seek to better understand how to move forward in challenging times.
Accurate project evaluation is fundamental to corporate success and further complicated by the risk and uncertainty of getting capital requirements, operating costs, ramp up period, and product price right. How do we manage resource and reserve estimation given varying commodity prices, and how does this impact on mine planning and ultimately metallurgical performance? In today’s environment the shortage of skills and long lead times for critical equipment for example have a huge impact on the outcomes of new projects. How do we manage their impacts in Project Evaluation?
This conference will be an invaluable forum for company professionals and external specialists involved with project development, and will consider how they go about reviewing and presenting project opportunities to meet internal company hurdles. Equally, the gathering will be essential for specialists representing industry related financial institutions – those project lenders and stockbrokers who undertake a vital role in the detailed examination and interpretation of project evaluations. Their information needs, and the critical analytical measures that they use for assessing project risk and return, will be considered.
