A high-reliability organization is one that functions in a high-risk environment with fewer than average accidents or losses. This gathering of researchers, managers, regulators, and practitioners will focus on sharing experiences and academic expertise in risk management, particularly among high-reliability organizations. Conference participants will discuss and design bottom-up management models capable of identifying risk and solutions that involve power sharing, authority migration, and continuous problem solving to address uncertainty, danger, and time pressure faced by managers across industries.
