Highlights
Advancing Power Technologies for Warfighters in Theatre
Commanders in Afghanistan issued a plea for the weight of essential power sources for all types of equipment used on front line patrols to be reduced.
With new electronic breakthroughs emerging almost daily, power requirements are skyrocketing. Standard-issue power sources and fuels are currently the backbone of everything from night vision devices, weapon sights, and GPS units through to anti-tank missile launchers and military vehicles. Already, the average warfighter consumes 88 AA batteries over the course of a 5-day mission and the military uses approximately 2.4 million gallons of fuel every day in Afghanistan. New technological breakthroughs to power devices and machinery are at the forefront in the long war with the key thrusts being to reduce weight, increase efficiency, and outlast mission durations, all at the lowest cost possible.
IDGA’s 8th Tactical Power Sources Summit will examine the immediate need to utilize new emerging technologies to overcome current fuel consumption rates, lighten the load, and address the need for improved large and small scale power.
Meeting the increasing power needs of warriors! Sessions will discuss:- Requirements on Deployed Mobile Power for the Warfighter
- Supporting Energy Security to Conduct Critical Missions
- Generating Hydrogen for Fuel Cells for Portable and Vehicle Applications
- Development and Implementation of Advanced Power Systems for Space and DoD Applications
- Tactical Power Developments and Requirements for Soldier Equipment
