Asia is world’s biggest supplier for base oils and lubrications. Despite having a major production capacity for base oils & lubricants, Asia is also the major importer in the world. The high volume of import and export is driven by the industrialization within China and India. The recent changes in REACH regulations in Europe & API Regulations in America are also changing the requirements for base oil & lubricants. This dramatically changes the market demand for Group I, Group II and Group III base oils and led to the supply rationalization of Group I.
